Unclaimed Funds Reporting

Businesses must comply with the New York State Abandoned Property Law which requires organizations to annually review their records and transfer accounts that have reached certain dormancy thresholds to the State Comptroller, who serves as custodian of the funds until they can be returned to their rightful owners. To assist organizations with this process, the State Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds provides a Handbook for Reporters of Unclaimed Funds.
